Congregation house

The church of St Mary the Virgin at Kelling is undergoing repair, and presented to us the opportunity to design an auxiliary church hall and some facilities to augment the present church, on the church grounds. An additional outdoor Church Hall, and ancillary facilities are required to support the church of St Mary the Virgin at Kelling.

The design concept stems from the biblical mention of the ‘Tree of Life’ , central in the garden of Eden, and a symbol of God’s life-giving presence. Through this, the basis of our concept was to create a clear, open light filled space that internally represents God’s life-giving presence. Physically the northern facade represents the tree of life.

As an extension of the ‘Tree of Life’ concept these arch ways were designed with these Voronoi patterns that can be found in nature linking the concept of the tree of life with the surrounding
