The environmental stressors modified the coastline, After the Horizon 2020 initiative which cleared Barcelona’s waters from pollution, The next step is to now bring back the ecosystems that decreased. From the need to understand the impact of human activities on the marine population, the project of restoring Barcelona’s ecosystem has emerged. Through an urban study, I Looked into the evolution of El Poblenou coastline, and since the Olympic Games in 1992, the population and tourism increased in Barcelona over the past few years, and human activities caused global changes that affect the ocean’s health such as pollution, sea-level rise, ocean acidification leading ecosystems more exposed to influences that can negatively affect marine’s lives
walk to get to the project’s site : We can notice popular restaurants near the site making it an attractive area
Escullera de Poblenou (the deck), is a famous walk, appreciated by tourists making the way to the project accessible.

The building would work in collaboration with institutions (Barcelona’s university and CSIC largest institute dedicated to marine research in Barcelona) to discover landscapes that contribute to sustainability in the underwater world and what the needs are to create healthy ecosystems. This project has for objective to generate collaborative environments, make science visible, and communicate the importance of marine biology. Studying at the Marine education centre will provide a practical experience for the students.
